Arches are Everywhere in 2019
It seems like everything that was old is new again, and another design element that is making a huge comeback is arches.
They are everywhere at the moment!
Arches were created in Roman times when architecture and design were just beginning, and there is a definite sway back to these traditional lines.
We can’t wait to show you some stunning examples of how arches are being used in design and styling in homes around the globe!

Now, arches were introduced into architecture for a practical reason, to enable architects to build larger, stronger structures.
However along with strength, arches also created an added bonus of being more interesting aesthetically.
Maybe the Roman’s didn’t know it at the time, but they were creating one of the milestones of the building industry.
And as they say – the rest is history!
In days gone by, arches were reserved for buildings like churches and cathedrals, but thankfully they are making a mainstream resurgence.
And if you have been looking at anything design related lately, you’d be well aware of the Arch trend.
So, if you are thinking about building or renovating, now is the time to include an arched window or even an internal wall.
By incorporating an arched window in a space, you’re not only allowing valuable natural light to flow in, you are also creating a point of interest in the space.

So if the arched window isn’t really your thing, how about taking some some tips from the 70’s and try an arched doorway.
We know, we know, loads of people are knocking these out of older homes and modernising.
BUT, think twice before you pick up the sledgehammer!
Arched doorways, entrances and even ceilings are huge in the design world right now.
Keeping archways can seem like a step backwards, however it can alter a space in a big way.
The room will appear softer and more organic, and can also create a different detail in a normally angular space.

If the thought of including a window or arched wall is a little daunting, you can still go for it with this style.
Maybe try something on a smaller scale.
Arched shower screens are becoming a real thing! And the reason why they work so well, is that the rounded more organic shape, breaks up what is normally all angular or square edges.
We think this is a brilliant step forward in bathroom design.
