A people-first ethos that values connection, wellbeing, and thoughtful experiences informed the design of the open-plan workspace. The layout is balanced by more intimate spaces that foster collaboration and reflect the brand’s sophisticated yet understated character.
The adjoining state-of-the-art showroom brings ABI’s products to life, inviting clients to explore the full range in an immersive, homely environment.
“From the outset, we aimed to craft an experience that would leave a lasting impression on customers and staff alike,” says Georgina Twyford, Creative Director of
Studio Yugen who led the design.
“We designed a journey of moments, incorporating functional in-situ displays that not only showcased products but also told a story.”
“When customers walk in, we wanted the space to feel like a warm hug,” adds ABI Interiors Co-Founder Luli Farrell.
“It was important that the showroom felt as home-like as possible, while still clearly showcasing the products. We introduced a strong central element to ground the space and bring nature inside. We designed the showroom desks to feel more like a shared dining table: relaxed, collaborative, and distinctly studio-like.
"The layout separates the creative studio and consultation pods from the more aspirational display areas, allowing people to move easily between focused design work and moments of inspiration.”
When it came to the upstairs team workspace, the design prioritised flexibility and wellbeing, creating a balanced environment that supports both focused work and collaborative exchange.
“The biggest driving factor for HQ was creating an oasis for our team, one that felt warm and inviting, layered with soft furnishings, textiles, sofas, and organic lighting,” continues Luli.
“We wanted the space to feel welcoming and calming, without compromising productivity. The open-plan layout was central to this approach, creating a more horizontal hierarchy where everyone, regardless of role, works alongside one another.”
“Soft booths provide quiet moments, while low coffee tables and floor cushions invite team members to gather, share ideas, and unwind,” adds Georgina.
“Balancing open and intimate zones supports both collaboration and individual focus, reflecting the people-first ethos throughout the space.”
“The Pilates studio is one of my favourite spaces,” says Luli. “It’s where people come together to start the day, share moments, and connect. With the sunrise and cityscape, it feels warm and inspiring; a space for movement, mindfulness, and community.”
A dedicated wet bar further contributes to the sense of warmth and conviviality, creating a natural space for teams to celebrate successes and transition into the weekend. These curated pockets of connection help the workspace feel dynamic, inclusive, and socially engaged.
Curves guide you through a fluid journey of discovery, while a muted palette promotes calm and focus. Japanese-style linen curtains, acoustically graded woven flooring, and the sculptural wave ceiling enrich the tactile experience.
“The undulating ceiling showcases natural oak veneer, adding warmth and texture, while subtle lighting nestled between the waves enhances the ambience,” Georgina explains. “It’s a harmonious balance of form and function, creating an inspiring and productive workspace.”
“There were a lot of Japanese influences, like the concept of the horigotatsu-style seating on the floor and the use of timber,” says Luli.
“The colour palette also reflects this approach: soft, muted, and natural, creating a calm, balanced atmosphere that feels inviting, considered, and timeless.”
For the kitchen, a fresh, light-blue cabinetry tone is complemented by cork tiles, soft upholstery, terrazzo tables, and a metal-look range hood.
“This cohesive colour strategy creates continuity and warmth, making the space functional yet joyfully unexpected,” says Georgina.
“We wanted the kitchen to be the hub of the building and a place that naturally brings people together,” adds Luli.
“By providing everything needed, we’ve made it easy for people to bring in groceries and cook proper meals if they wish. It becomes a place where our team can cook together, share food, and connect, and that’s really beautiful.”
Bathrooms were designed with distinct aesthetics while maintaining a cohesive design language. In the female bathroom, curved mirrors with soft, rounded edges and gentle lighting were paired with elegant, minimalist fixtures and a calming colour palette with warm undertones, creating a spa-like ambience.
“In contrast, the male bathroom features sleek, geometric lines and a more industrial-chic aesthetic,” explains Georgina. “The wall-mounted mirrors have clean, sharp edges and are complemented by metallic accents and darker, richer tones, giving the space a strong, modern feel.”
“The office and kitchen presented an exciting opportunity to experiment with innovative materials and push design boundaries. We're proud of the result, which seamlessly blends functionality, aesthetics, and brand identity.”
From the open-plan office and communal kitchen to the inspirational showroom, ABI Interiors’ Carrara HQ embodies the brand’s values of warmth, collaboration, and thoughtful design. It’s a home for ideas and community, where ABI's team and clients alike feel welcomed, inspired, and part of the ABI journey.
“Working with ABI Interiors has been a fantastic collaboration. We adore all the spaces, and we hear that customers and the ABI team do too!” says Georgina.
