Characterised by their earthy tones and unique veining patterns, travertine tiles are perfect for decorating spaces throughout the home.

Travertine is a highly durable natural stone that is lighter than marble due to its porous nature. It is known for its elegance, durability, and versatility. Travertine tiles are also considered low-maintenance.

Our Travertine Tiles Range

We offer genuine travertine tiles and porcelain travertine look tiles specifically suitable for floors, walls, and around pool areas.

Genuine Travertine Tiles

Our genuine travertine tiles include inverted and rounded finger tiles and square mosaics. These boutique, small-format tiles are ideal for wall applications only, including smaller spaces, curved walls, splashbacks, and feature walls. However, we also offer large-format travertine tiles suitable for large walls and floors.

We range beige, light beige, and grey tiles, providing versatile options to complement any design aesthetic. We also offer travertine mosaic tile in square, rounded finger, and inverted finger designs, all with a distinctive 3D aesthetic.

Travertine Look Tiles

We also have highly durable, large-format porcelain tiles that beautifully replicate natural travertine stone. These travertine look tiles are constructed from highly durable porcelain, resistant to stains, scratches, and moisture. They come in three dimensions to suit your space: 600x1200mm, 600x600mm, and 300x600mm.

As these are large-format tiles, they are most suitable for large floor and wall spaces. Our travertine look tiles are light beige and have a smooth surface finish.

Travertine Tiles FAQs

What is travertine?

Travertine is a sedimentary rock that forms in geothermal springs and caves. It is a form of limestone characterised by its unique appearance and porous surface, which features distinct, natural pits and holes. It is a highly durable, versatile, and low-maintenance material that can withstand heavy foot traffic and the rigours of daily use.

How do I clean and maintain my travertine tiles?

We recommend regular cleaning with a pH-neutral cleaner to care for your natural stone tiles. Intermittent deep cleaning is also crucial in eliminating ingrained dirt and grime. Please refer to our care guide for more comprehensive cleaning recommendations.

Can travertine tiles be used in wet areas?

Yes, travertine tiles can be used in wet areas, such as bathrooms, showers, and around pools, but proper preparation and maintenance are essential. Travertine is a natural stone that is porous and can absorb water, so it should be sealed with a high-quality stone sealant to protect it from moisture, stains, and potential damage. Regular resealing is also recommended to maintain its durability and appearance. Additionally, a honed or matte finish travertine tile may provide better slip resistance in wet areas.

Our Nazilli Travertine tiles are specifically suitable for installation around pool areas; however, they would require resealing after six years.

Are travertine tiles suitable for outdoor use?

ABI Interiors highly durable Nazilli Travertine floor and wall tile is best suited for large indoor areas, including wall and floor installation. However, it is also suitable for installation outdoors, specifically around pool areas. It must be resealed after six years to retain its porous surface.

How do I install travertine tiles?

We always recommend appointing a qualified tradesperson to install your tiles.

Are travertine tiles slippery when wet?

Travertine tiles can become slippery when wet, especially with a polished or honed finish. The smooth surface of polished travertine reduces friction, making it more prone to slipping when wet. However, textured travertine tiles offer better traction and are less slippery, even in wet conditions.

To improve safety, especially in areas like bathrooms or poolside, it is important to apply a non-slip sealant or use anti-slip treatments to enhance the grip of the surface when wet.
