An inset bathroom basin, or ‘semi-inset basin’, is the perfect option for a contemporary bathroom, ensuite, or powder room. Its design is halfway between a top-mounted and under-mounted basin, with part of the bowl sitting above the vanity and the other part beneath.
Inset vanity basins are ideal for small spaces such as an ensuite or powder room, as they appear more subtle than an above-counter basin. For larger bathrooms, double inset basins create a luxurious appearance with the benefit of practicality and easy cleaning.
Be conscious when choosing your basin tapware that the height and projection of your spout is suitable for the height of your inset bathroom basin.

In addition to their elegant matte white appearance, both inset basins offer abundant space for washing. Celine and Kiva are both durably designed with a solid surface construction, which means they are easy to maintain and will appear in top condition for the long term.
Please note that both of ABI Interiors’ inset basins require a 400mm deep internal carcass clearance.
Inset Basins FAQs
Can inset basins only be used with specific vanities?
This is something to discuss with your tradesperson when selecting your vanity, as you will need enough clearance underneath for the waste to have no obstructions.
What is the difference between under-mount and inset sinks?
Instead of being placed into a pre-cut hole in the vanity, under-mount sinks are installed from under the benchtop. On the other hand, inset basins are mounted from the top of the bench.
How do you install an inset basin?
A licensed plumber is required to fit your inset basin.
