WHITE TILES: ALL ABI COLOURS
The timeless blank canvas, white has been the precursor for many works of art. It’s fresh and symbolises peace, cementing itself as a staple in the home. Unsurprisingly, white tiles are a versatile backdrop to let your ABI tapware be the star. The colour white reflects every wavelength of light, so it’s easier to exemplify a texture’s details. Even white tapware on a white backsplash looks unique and interesting!
LIGHT GREY TILES: ALL ABI COLOURS
Reminiscent of stone and rainy days, grey is a calming colour with a refined edge. The darker graduation of white remains as versatile – light grey tiles, whether patterned or plain, match all ABI colours.
DARK GREY: ALL ABI COLOURS EXCEPT BRUSHED BRASS AND BRUSHED COPPER
Dark grey won’t look abhorrent behind brushed brass and brushed copper, but in the matter of BEST suiting, we believe their delightful warmth can clash with darker shades of grey. With that said, Pantone’s Colours of the Year 2021 are grey and yellow so don’t take us too seriously!
BLACK TILES: BRUSHED NICKEL, BRUSHED GUNMETAL AND CHROME
Absorbing almost all visible light, the darkest colour available to our human eyes is black. Authoritative and mysterious, this colour has commanded trends for years. Anything that emerges into societal popularity is deemed ‘the new black’. To not undermine its powerful allure, we think the best ABI tapware colours to complement black tiles are brushed nickel, brushed gunmetal and chrome.
GREEN TILES: BRUSHED BRASS, BRUSHED COPPER AND BRUSHED NICKEL
Whether it’s light or dark, the colour green is the most recognisable symbol of nature. Green tiles in the home reflect tranquility, reviving and restoring harmony. The ABI colours that best suit green are brushed brass, brushed copper and brushed nickel. The gleam of brushed brass and brushed copper contrasts seamlessly against the coolness of green, evoking an art deco spirit. Brushed nickel provides a dash of elegance for those who like a more modern disposition.

One of the most favoured colours that exist is blue. The University of Texas found that spaces with a blue palette inspired calmness and boosted productivity! The word ‘terracotta’ translates to ‘baked earth’ in Italian and is indicative of the russet warmth it has brought to homes all over the world. Its strong colour can typically wash out chrome tapware and can clash against brushed copper. The only contenders worthy of its excellence are brushed gunmetal and brushed brass. You would think orange shades and gunmetal together would shriek the horrors of Halloween, but instead, it comes off as striking and contemporary. Brushed brass is a gold star against the autumnal tones of terracotta.
