Fixtures Care Guide Download Fixtures Care Guide Overview CONSTRUCTION AND FINISHES PRODUCTS MATERIALS CONSTRUCTION AND FINISHES PRODUCTS MATERIALS Construction and Finishes Our main construction materials are DR solid brass, 304 and 316 stainless steel. Solid brass is commonly used for residential purposes (e.g. throughout the home) and is constructed from DR solid brass. Stainless steel is used more in non residential environments (e.g. high traffic locations like public bathrooms) and is made from 304 stainless steel. We also have 316 grade stainless steel which is for outdoor use. Stainless steel is also regularly used in areas that require more durability (e.g. kitchen sinks, floor wastes etc). Whilst solid brass and stainless steel products are treated using the same finishing process, the difference in construction materials means there may be slight variations in the colour and overall wear of the finish. All ABI Interiors products can generally be used in residential and non residential settings unless a specific standard dictates otherwise. They then undergo one of the following colour treatments to complete the finished product: Advanced Electroplating Application (AEA) ABI’s HeatShield – Industrial Grade (PVD) Electro Colouring System PrimeShield Lacquer Technology (PSLT) What Finishes Do You Offer? They are both extremely versatile types of stainless steel. It is the chromium found in stainless steel that gives it its oxidation, corrosion and durability resistance, making it one of the more hard-wearing metals to choose from. Stainless Steel Grade 316 has further corrosion resistance to seawater and de-icing salts, making it more suitable for outdoor environments. Grade 304 = 18/8, Grade 316 = 18/10 Stainless Steel Construction - The "grade" of stainless steel refers to its quality, durability and temperature resistance. The numbers (18/8, 18/10, etc.) are the composition of the stainless steel and refer to the amount of chromium/nickel in the product. eg. 18/8 stainless steel consists of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Solid Brass We use DR solid brass for the majority of our residential tapware range. DR brass is characterised by its exceptional resistance to dezincification and corrosion. ABS (3-Function Round Hand Shower) Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene ABS is injection moulded and is derived from acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. It is known for its impact resistance and toughness. ABS is coloured using the same colour treatments as our solid brass range. Colours Brushed Nickel (PVD), Brushed Brass (PVD), Brushed Gunmetal (PVD), Brushed Copper (PVD), Chrome (AEA), Matte Black (AEA), White (PSLT), Stainless Steel. Description PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) ABI Heat Shield – an industrial-grade molecular-based colouring system which provides a harder, more corrosion resistant finish whilst remaining environmentally friendly. AEA (Advanced Electroplating Application) - a process that uses electrical current to plate one metal upon another metallic surface to create a long-lasting and durable finish. PSLT (PrimeShield Lacquer Technology) - a high impact and durable lacquer finish that is easy to maintain. Cleaning and Maintenance Use natural cleaning products only and no abrasive cleaning cloths. Weekly cleaning with warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth is recommended. Dry after each use to reduce watermarking and surface rust. Use diluted toothpaste and water for hard to reach places and to restore the vitality of the finish. When cleaning, wipe in the direction of the brushed grain to maintain the brushed appearance. For renovations and new builds, flush pipes before. Caution Do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaners. This includes: Bleach and bleaching agents Ammonium and ammonium agents Highly acidic cleaners Alcohol and mineral-based solvents Limit exposure to high levels of salt. If your product comes into contact with any of these chemicals, rinse immediately with warm soapy water. Avoid scourers and rough brushes for cleaning. Avoid contact with sharp objects which could chip or scratch the surface. Do not put heat directly on surface. Porcelain Finishes Products Toilets, Tiles Description A ceramic construction created by heating materials to establish a durable product. Cleaning and Maintenance Clean regularly using a natural cleaning solution with warm water and a mop. You should only use the cleaning products that have been recommended for the specific type of tile that you have purchased. Clean spills immediately to avoid staining. Consider using floor protectors on the legs of your furniture to avoid damage to your tiles. Solid Surface Products Basins, Baths Colours Matte White, Gloss White, Coloured Range Description Solid surface (acrylic resin + aluminium hydroxide + pigment) is a man-made composite stone and is known for its strength and resistant properties. Composite Stone (Vanity Tops) Our composite stone is a man-made stone that is lightweight and durable and comes in a variety of colourways, all with a satin/matte finish. Cleaning and Maintenance Clean any marks or stains as soon as they occur. Clean with warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth to remove most markings or a cream-based cleanser. Solid surface is easy to maintain using natural cleaning products. For matte white solid surface products, fine grade sandpaper can be used to remove stains or markings in some instances. Magic sponge with water. Acrylic Finishes Products Baths Colours Matte White Description Acrylic is a lightweight material made of vacuum-formed sheets of acrylic and is often reinforced with fibreglass for added durability. It is known for its quality thermal insulation and anti-scratch properties. Cleaning and Maintenance Clean any marks or stains as soon as they occur.
