Lead free kitchen taps provide a source of safe drinking water. Their rust-resistant and anti-corrosion properties ensure their suitability for indoor and outdoor settings.
Our Lead Free Tapware Range
Our durable lead free tapware is constructed from solid brass, 304, and premium 316 grade lead free stainless steel.
The National Construction Code (NCC) specifies that from 1 May 2028, tapware containing copper alloy that does not meet the lead content requirements below will be prohibited from installation in Australia. Clause A5G4 of NCC 2022 Volume Three (Plumbing Code of Australia) specifies that copper alloy plumbing products in contact with drinking water must limit the allowable lead content to a weighted average of no more than 0.25%.
The industry has been given an extended transition period to allow manufacturers and suppliers time to make the necessary changes and ensure compliant products are available.
We have completed our transition so that our brass products now comply with the Plumbing Code of Australia’s lead content requirements, ahead of the 1 May 2028 deadline, with our brass products now constructed using brass that meets this weighted average lead content standard. Our 316 grade stainless steel tapware remains completely lead free, as confirmed by independent testing. We are committed to transparency and the safety of our customers and will continue to provide information about the measures we take to minimise lead content.
Lead Free Tapware FAQs
Why is lead free tapware becoming mandatory?
The Australian Building Codes Board has reviewed and recognised studies on the long-term health benefits of lead free tapware.
What particular tapware will be influenced
by this change?
The NCC specifies that plumbing products containing copper alloy that come into contact with drinking water must have a lead content of no more than 0.25%.
Which tapware do you currently offer that is completely lead free?
Our entire tapware range is now completely lead free. This is achieved through two materials: our 316-grade stainless steel, which is lead free by nature, and our brass tapware, now made using newly formulated lead-free brass alloys. Every lead-free product carries the Lead Free WaterMark alongside our standard WaterMark certification, tested initially and confirmed through yearly audits. You can verify any product yourself via the WaterMark Product Database, browse our dedicated lead-free tapware range, or check the Product Information tab on the relevant product page.
Have your lead free taps undergone testing to confirm the absence of lead?
Yes, tests have been conducted on all our tapware, and the reports confirm they contain 0% lead.
Do all your other taps contain lead?
No. Our entire tapware range is now lead free. Our 316 grade stainless steel is lead free by nature, testing at 0% lead, while our brass tapware is now made using newly formulated lead free brass alloys that meet the required lead-free standard. Every lead free product, brass and stainless steel alike, carries the Lead Free WaterMark.
When will your other taps become lead free?
Our entire tapware range is already lead free, which includes solid brass, 304 and 316 grade stainless steel. We completed the transition ahead of the 1 May 2026 national deadline, when manufacturers were required to stop certifying and manufacturing non-compliant copper alloy plumbing products.
Do lead free taps have any other benefits?
Yes. Our 316 grade stainless steel tapware offers strong corrosion resistance on top of being lead free by nature. And choosing lead free doesn't mean a compromise elsewhere: pricing sits in a similar range to standard brass tapware, and there's no trade-off in durability.
