The Huntley Villas Bali

When Tess Keddie and her husband Tim Dugdale began planning The Huntley Villas, they had a clear ambition: to create something that simply didn't exist in Bali: a villa experience as considered and design-led as anything you'd find in California, grounded in a neutral, calming palette yet layered with warmth and personality.

It marked their second project. Their first, The Cali Villas, opened in 2022, drawing inspiration from Palm Springs through bold colour, warm finishes, and ABI's Kingsley range in brushed brass throughout. The Huntley became a natural evolution of that vision.

The result is a California desert–meets–West Hollywood aesthetic: neutral foundations brought to life with accents of burnt orange and chocolate brown. ABI's brushed brass fixtures feature consistently across every bathroom and kitchen, adding a sense of cohesion and refinement.

The team collaborated with Melbourne-based Herbert & Howes, long-time partners on their residential projects, who delivered the architectural plans. Tess led the interiors, as she has across much of Tim's development portfolio.

Brushed brass introduces warmth and continuity to the earthy palette, acting as a grounding element. Against richer tones, it adds depth and sophistication without overwhelming the space. For Tess, investing in high-quality fixtures is as much a commercial decision as it is an aesthetic one.

"While it costs a little more upfront, it really does pay off in the end for marketing and occupancy."

The Huntley's deliberate departure from the typical Bali villa aesthetic is central to its appeal as a hospitality offering. Collaboration with ABI throughout the project was seamless.

"We worked closely with ABI's Head of Sales, Peta — she was incredibly responsive, professional, and supportive throughout the process."

That relationship is set to continue. With a new home currently under construction, Tess and Tim are already planning their next project with ABI.

"We would absolutely recommend ABI Interiors. We're building our own home at the moment and plan to incorporate the Kingsley range in brushed nickel."
