FALL IN LOVE WITH PARIS DESIGN WEEK, MAISON&OBJET 2022

If you’re looking for what is en vogue to refresh your space while also getting a dose of inspiration to makeover your lifestyle, Paris Design Week is where to be. The exhibition of over 2,000 brands oversees a new and exciting foray into the design world and showcases established figures and those up and coming. We’ve reviewed the top highlights, so you can get the best insights from the comfort of your chair.

Paris Design Week is one of the most prestigious international design weeks, and Maison&Objet Paris is its main attraction as a trade fair celebrating upcoming design trends and shifts in consumer desires.

The Paris Maison&Object 2022 dates spanned from the 8th to the 12th of September, with Paris Design Week completing on the 17th of September. This year, the festival invites you to be ‘Meta-Sensitive’. Vincent Grégoire from the Nelly Rodi agency, who coined this term, explains, “the physical world is no longer in opposition with its digital counterpart. Better still, the two worlds merge and cross-fertilise, mutually enhancing each other”.

Gripped with fear during 2020, we moved to building resilience in 2021, to now a desire to recreate ourselves in 2022. This design week explores how both worlds can merge and complement each other. You need not give one up for the other. A focus on traditional handiwork, ‘slow design’, and a reverence for natural materials is combined with a voyage of digital inspiration and fantasy.

What is du jour the ‘Meta-Sensible’ theme, according to the Maison&Objet exhibitors? It’s time to think about animal prints, florals, and dreamlike designs. Curated to reinforce your connection to nature and push the boundaries of the imagination, see how you can incorporate these fun trends into your current space.

Though earthy tones are timeless, bright colours are heavily featured throughout the design event as a welcome mood boost to the darkness of recent times.

Designed to build a connection with all those involved in creating the modern-day lifestyle, Maison&Objet and Paris Design Week 2022 leave you with a sense of joyous unity between safety in the groundedness of the earth and a lively exploration of digital possibilities.
