The Art of Homemaking: Inside ABI Interiors’ Sydney Open Home
To mark the opening of our Marrickville Showroom, we welcomed the local community to our Sydney Open Home, a day to slow down, connect, and celebrate the art of homemaking.
From the moment guests arrived, the space came to life with a rhythm of conversation, creativity, and shared appreciation for thoughtful design. With complimentary coffee and matcha from Harrys Bondi in hand, visitors explored the showroom and engaged in a curated program of immersive activations that brought the home into focus, not just as a place, but as a collection of everyday rituals.
As our first Sydney location, Marrickville represents a significant milestone for ABI; our most ambitious space to date. Sydney Open Home offered a rare opportunity to experience it not just as a retail environment, but as a lived-in, evolving space shaped by people.
At the heart of the day were moments designed to delight. The Anita Gelato Cart served a custom flavour, Pecan Wattleseed Caramel Crumble, created exclusively for the event; a small indulgence that quickly became a favourite among guests.
A nostalgic sense of play unfolded through ABI’s Lucky Dip, where guests uncovered one of 350 curated prizes.
From thoughtful lifestyle pieces from Ashley & Co to the grand prize — a $2,500 ABI Interiors gift voucher — every draw was a winner. Handmade balloon florals offered a whimsical keepsake that guests carried through the showroom all afternoon.
Central to Sydney Open Home was the opportunity to create. At The Frame Bar, visitors transformed personal photo memories into custom-framed pieces to take home, selecting from a range of solid wood frames, layouts, and colour inserts to create something entirely their own.
It became one of the most popular moments of the day and a reminder that the most meaningful details in a home are often the most personal.
In The Little Lounge, younger guests were invited into the world of design through Paper Homes.
Here, children styled their own spaces using a curated selection of furniture, décor, and ABI product cut-outs, a playful introduction to the art of homemaking that brought imagination to the forefront.
What made Sydney Open Home truly memorable was the sense of community it fostered. Guests came together to explore, create, and connect, united by a shared appreciation for the rituals that shape a home.
Whether through conversation, creativity, or quiet moments of inspiration, the day reflected what the ABI team values most: thoughtful design, meaningful experiences, and the people who bring spaces to life.
We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone moment, and we look forward to welcoming you back into the space soon.
